Chris Townsend started his career as a jeweller at the ripe young age of 19. His family had a business in Norwood that specialised in watchmaking and jewellery repairs.

At the age of 30 Chris opened his own business here in Mount Barker. Townsend Jewellers was first located in what is now known as Sazon Expresso. He then moved across the street to what had originally been a butchers shop for 100 years.

Chris' passion is undeniable as you hear him speak about different gemstones and share his knowledge of watchmaking. It is the long-term businesses like Chris' that make Mount Barker's business community extra special.
